Mary Roaf joined Teach For America as a D.C. corps member in 1993. After completing her corps commitment, she continued to pursue educational equity, working in schools and community organizations across the country. She currently serves as the Collective Impact Manager for Thriving Together at Valley of the Sun United Way. Mary and her team are working arduously to identify best practices to prepare a quarter-million young people within the greater Phoenix metropolitan area for success from birth to career.

Ariana Tinoco is a 2017 corps member who teaches third grade at Esperanza Elementary School in the Isaac School District of Phoenix. As a child, Ariana always loved school and often pretended to be a teacher with her family members. In college, Ariana participated in a tutoring program called America Reads and developed a love for working with kids. She knew she wanted to make an impact and that the Arizona education system needed more teachers and improvements.

Julie Johnson and Jerry Barnier have been supporters of Teach For America for over 10 years. As teacher sponsors, Jerry and Julie have been wonderful hosts and supporters of their corps members. Jerry is the founder and President of Suntec Concrete, Inc. and Julie is Principal at Avision Young. Jerry and Julie continue to support Teach For America because of their fundamental belief in the power of an excellent education and their commitment to the state of Arizona and its children.
